What to do after a death ?

Any death which happens in Scotland must be registered within 8 days by any relative of the deceased, any person present when the person died, the deceased's executer, the occupier of the property where the person died, or any other legal representative. This can be in person or by telephone at any registration office in Scotland. If the death have been referred to the procurator fiscal, registration can not take place until the death certificate has been issued.

  • Do you welcome floral tributes or wish for family flowers only

  • Do you wish to give donations to charity

  • Have you considered which coffin you would like

  • Have you considered who will be the cord bearers (8 or more)

  • Would you like to have refreshments after the service

  • Do family & friends wish to view remains at place of rest

Is financial help available?

You may be able to claim Bereavement Allowance if you meet all of the criteria set by the welfare support team.
